1. Forecast

Peak in introduction of intensive technologies in World s production is estimated in the year 2015. Shift to the green raw materials for indust-
rial applications is already on the track and in the years 2008 2010
the convertion of energy sources is expected in the same direction.
IPM (Nano STM) 2008 programme which is based on unique advantages in these realms when being contributed to the growth of new knowledge based economy will yield high added value and will lead its industrial
potential to the level higher than that of the High Tech industries.


2. Scope and objectives


Advances in high performance alternative ( green ) materials for a variety of applications will increasingly depend on our ability to control the process of design at molecular and supramolecular levels. Capabilities for syntesing such materials are becoming available as it has been proved by recent R&D in BP technologies.


3. Mission


The primary mission of the recent IPM (Nano STM ) - 2008 programme is to provide an interdisciplinary break through for the effective solutions in the concurrent design , processing , theory, performance and applications of advanced materials. Synthesis routes of interest include mainly chemical and mechano-chemical alloying together with other methods. They meet strict specifications with heavy duty applications for structural materials and processing media. Scientific challenges that will be the foundation of needed answers to industrial needs of the future are as follows.
- Mechanics of unique structures due to special molecular composition of linear chains of hydrocarbons which are present in Jojoba.
- Physico chemical modification of structures as they form the transitional stage in metal to metal contact and prerequisite conditions for the long term performance of such contact.
- Supra molecular effects in liquid or solid phase of getero structures resulting in rheo or tribo performance.
